Just [Fucking] Do It

We reached for our coffees and our hands touched. My heart skipped a beat. My eyes turned into huge anime eyes and my heart raced. In that instant I remembered my fortune cookie fortune from the orange chicken I ordered last night, “you’ll bump into the love of your life.” Clearly this is a sign and he’s my future husband who will accept the fact I will own 32 dogs.

Doesn’t that sound stupid? It literally sounds stupid. And people believe that. People believe that the stars will align, mercury will be in retrograde and the heavens will open up with angels singing Ave Maria. If I’m honest half of the female population believes this bullshit.

Stop waiting for a sign that says he’s the one. Stop waiting for a sign that your going to pass the test, get the job, get that kiss. Stop that crap because it ain’t going to happen.

What if you missed your chance? What if right now is that perfect time, your one chance and you miss it because it’s not what you were expecting or you doubted yourself? Expectations can be a monster. So many times we build up scenarios in our mind of how we want a situation to play out. But once they don’t go as we planned we become frustrated and upset.

How many times in your life have you been disappointed because something did not go as planned? How many times have you looked back and regret not going for it? Expectations, signs, disappointment, regret. Each are laced together within our lives. If you are waiting for the “right time” that means you could be waiting forever.

You know how you’ll get that job? Apply. Not sure if you’re ready to go out and mingle? Just do it or stay home and crack open a bottle of wine. Text him/her.

Be the Nike slogan. Just [Fucking] Do It.

As women we are always in the back seat waiting. Either waiting for our boss to notice our hard work or for someone to bring us our glass slipper. How about going to the store and getting better shoes that won’t slip off ya feet?

Stop waiting for a sign.

Don’t regret it.

Break your expectations.

Do it.

You have to lift your head up out of the mud and just do it.
