If you know me than you know how much I love and practically live in sweaters, hoodies, coats and jeans. Spring? I don’t know her. Summer? Who is she? I always knew I was never one for springy looks. I’ve alwys felt more comfortable in black and ripped jeans. But for some reason this season is a little different. I think my style is evolving again and I find myself venturing into more of a tropical style. I didn’t realize how much I lacked until I went to Tjmaxx with my Tia and mom. I was surrounded by beautiful breezy clothes. I than made a promise to myself to wear more ‘Miami’ tropical clothes. Which means more shorts, skirts and dresses. A piece of me is cringing right now. We’re only a few days in and I’m doing pretty good at keeping my word. I heard that it takes 14 days for something to become a habit. Let’s see how I well I do.
I shall be giving a break down of all the clothes I picked up at Tjmaxx, how I style them and can’t I say that if you sweet talk the cashier enough you might end up with some pretty decent discounts! Also if you’re over the age of 55 you get 10% off on Mondays!
Jumpsuit: Tjmaxx
Sandals: Target
Hat: Target
Choker: Charlotte Russe
This is how I would style this simple breezy jumpsuit during the day time. I honestly can’t believe I am even wearing a jumpsuit that goes above my ankle but I think it works regardless.
Blazer: Zara
Shoes: Target
Hoops: Claire’s
Now I decided to give a night version of this look. Pulled the hair back and added a blazer for a more sophisticated look.
Dress: Tjmaxx
Shoes: Target
Floral. Dress. Not only am I in a dress I am in a floral dress. A very big rarity but I’m trying. I know my mom was definitely happy about this one. I’ve always been the kind of girl who wore sneakers with her dresses and this dress has me feeling like Andie in Step Up 2. Floral’s will always be a very spring pattern but the reason I like this particular pattern because it is more on the Miami tropical side with a more subdued color palette.
Blazer: Zara
Heels: DSW
For a night-time version I threw on my blazer and my favorite pair of heels. Another way I would style this is with a leather jacket with either booties or knee-high boots. But I decided to stay on the more chic side.
Jumpsuit: Tjmaxx
Sandals: Target
Hat: Target
I honestly can’t believe I’m turning into the type that wears jumpsuits mainly because they’re difficult to find for my height. But I’m trying to get high water pants to come back. I consider this my boat look.
Shoes: Target
The most simple way to elevate an outfit from day to night is adding height to your shoes. I tossed on my favorite pair of booties and that was it. I would probably throw on my favorite leather jacket to give it a more edgy look.
Top: Tjmaxx
Cardigan: Macy’s Backstage
Pants: Tjmaxx
Boots: Target
I don’t have many springy tops and since I’m always buying bottoms I figured I had to grab some sort of top. It’s a simple top that can be worn in multiple ways. I paired it with my favorite high water jeans (see I’m bring it back) and threw on boots for height. This is my brunch go to look. I would even add a brown hat to keep the sun from my face.
Top: Tjmaxx
Shorts: Tjmaxx
Boots: Target
Hat: Target
I want to first say I would typically wear this with sneakers or sandals but I’m trying to push myself. And yes I know I’m nothing but legs and a head. People remind me that a lot. Shorts are never a wrong in the spring or summer. The top is loose so I won’t be dying in 80 degree weather.
Top: Target
Pants: Tjmaxx
Shoes: Target
Disclaimer: I wore this out as soon as I took this picture. The top is a knitted material so it’s extremely breezy. The pants are my favorite. They’re loose but give a nice shape. You can wear this with a pair of wedges and strut down the street.
If you haven’t notice I’ve been going with a color scheme. Earth tones. I’m not the type to wear bright colors therefore I stick to earth tones as a way to step out of my usual black on black. It’s not hard to look cute and be on a budget. People are always surprised by where my clothes come from but that’s why I call myself a “A Clearance Girl with a High-End Personality.” It’s all about how you style and carry yourself.
